There are several ways to become a member of the JEWEL program. We have designed (4) different versions of the program in order to accommodate the specific needs of those interested:

One on One

Any one from mothers to mentors and everything in between can use this version of the program to work with the young women in their life. This JEWEL book deals with more personal issues that some girls may not be comfortable addressing in a group setting. Oftentimes adults have a difficult time finding an inroad to communicating with the pre-teen girl in their lives. Also, as pop culture permeates the lives of our children, we don't always have a guide to address the issues that our girls are facing or counter the negative influences that they are bombarded with everyday. The one on one curriculum is a less invasive means of approaching these topics.

Community Groups/Organizations

As the issues our girls face grow, many established organizations find them selves searching for ways to deal with the changes happening right before their eyes. As well, some people have a desire to work with young women for these same reasons, but have no idea where to begin. This version of the JEWEL book has a more universal approach than the one on one version, but manages to tackle issues that oftentimes go undiscussed in our communities. Community groups have the option of continuing the program at the completion of the initial phase of the program.

Teachers/Schools

Similar to the community version of the JEWEL program, the version for teachers and/or schools utilizes a more universal approach to tackling issues that oftentimes go undiscussed in communities of color. However, this membership package is designed to accommodate the standard size classroom. Educators seeking a curriculum that has a comprehensive approach to dealing with a variety of topics that young women face will be able to integrate the JEWEL program easily into their course work. The program takes one class day per week for approximately 9 weeks and strategically takes on issues that many young women unwittingly deal with daily. As the students continue the program they are allowed space to develop their own set of principles to govern their life based on the guides provided. Successful completion of the program allows the girls to work on their self-esteem and sense of self worth from an empowering point of view.
