Everyone, particularly every woman, knows someone whose life has been affected by sexual abuse, assault or exploitation. The statistics are so staggering, that it is inevitable. Although sexual predators don't favor one race in particular over another; our campaign is focused on young women of color because often times the services available in predominately white or affluent areas aren't made available in low wealth communities and those populated by ethnic groups. Also, there is a shortage of culturally competent crisis programs for young women of color across the country. There are so many nuances in our communities that others simply don't understand. Millions of young women are harboring feelings or shame, guilt, hatred, anger, fear, confusion and hopelessness because they don't know where to turn for support and they can't find a space to begin healing.
